Maybe you found us online, maybe you met us at the market, maybe you follow us on social media. However you got here—we’re glad we’ve finally convinced you that a trip out to Lavender Connection is in your future! But at some point, most people wonder, “Sounds dreamy, but what is there to do besides take pictures of the lavender?”
First of all, the pictures are excellent, no doubt. But there’s plenty more to experience! Whether you’re planning a day trip to Sequim, exploring the Olympic Peninsula, or just looking for an excuse to slow down for a few hours, here’s what a summer day at Lavender Connection can look like.
Arrival
We’ll do our best to come greet you as soon as you arrive (but if you don’t see us, come find us at the oil bar or in the store—we’re probably helping other guests.) Once we tell you a little about the farm, we’ll probably point you toward the fields. After all, that’s why you’re here.
Wander the Lavender Fields
Stroll through rows of lavender, snap photos,* breathe deep, and see multiple varieties growing side by side.
The farm is easy to explore, and has benches and chairs throughout the fields for photo ops (and chilling out.) So snag a chaise and slow down while you’re out there! Feel the warm sun and the breeze coming off the Straight, listen to the honeybees buzzing from flower to flower, and soak it all in before someone in your group announces they’re ready for ice cream.
*Pro tip: keep an eye out for the tiny bench and a tiny purple chair we placed strategically for small children and adorable pets—we’re doing everything we can to ensure you win Instagram.
Cut Your Own Lavender (U-cut Experience)
Once the lavender blooms (always by the first weekend in July), our fields are open for U-cut! We’ll get you some scissors and a basket, answer your “how to” questions, and send you into the fields to cut your favorite varieties. When you’re done, we even have a dedicated table for you to use to arrange your perfect bouquet. U-cut lavender is hands-on, surprisingly fun, and makes a souvenir that actually smells better the longer you have it.
Sample Lavender Essential Oils
Lavender is as complex as wine, with different notes and intensity depending on the species, variety and even specific terioir. Our Essential Oil Bar gives you a chance to sample from more than twenty different varieties—and usually changes how people think about lavender entirely. Even better? It’s always free to do! So definitely plan to stop by the bar and discover why we describe it as “A wine tasting for your nose.”
Taste Lavender (Yes, You Can Eat It)
Lavender isn’t just something you smell — it shows up on the menu too. At the farm you’ll find small-batch treats like lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade, lavender shortbread cookies, and lavender chocolate. It’s a simple, unexpected way to experience the plant beyond the fields, and usually becomes one of those surprisingly delicious highlights of the visit. It’s one of those things people don’t expect to love… and then do.
Visit the Gift Shop
Swing by our gift shop to explore authentic, handcrafted lavender products for body and home—from lavender essential oil, bud and bouquets, to natural skincare and candles. Perfect for taking a little piece of the farm home with you, or for the inevitable moment when someone says, “Wait, you went to a lavender farm and didn’t bring me anything?”
Chat with the Farmers
We want to talk to you, I promise; otherwise we’d be *really* bored. So when it’s not peak-crowded, you’ll have time to ask all your burning lavender questions, learn how lavender grows here, and hear a little about life on a working farm.
Hang Out Longer Than Planned
Bring a picnic, grab a table, and enjoy the view. Many visitors stop in “just for a look” and end up staying awhile. No pressure. Just sayin… you may want to grab that picnic at Sunny Farms before you get here.
And that isn’t even everything you can do! We have a bigwheel tractor for the kids (and cornhole for the kids and kids at heart), essential oil distillation demonstrations once we start distilling at the end of July, and even chickens to entertain you with their antics.
Whenever you visit, even if the lavender isn’t at peak bloom, you’ll find something fun and unique to experience (and amazing to smell). So whether you’re on a Seattle day trip along the Sequim Lavender Trail, exploring the Olympic Peninsula for the weekend, or making Lavender Connection one stop on a longer Washington road trip, we can’t wait to show you around!
